Vana
Idea
A launch film with no music and no voice-over, only water, wind and gulls, because that is what an electric ferry sounds like.
What we did
- Launch film, 90 s, and six cut-downs
- On the water and at the yard
- Campaign for trade fairs
- Procurement brochure photos and layout
- Series for city decision-makers
Insight
A city board decides based on how the vessel looks at its own shore.
Vana is a Turku shipyard that builds electric ferries and work boats. The buyers of its new 12-metre ferry are city procurement units and boards that had never seen the vessel on the water. A purchase takes 12–18 months.

Film
We shot the ferry in the archipelago over a single morning. The film has no music and no narrator. You hear water, wind and gulls, because there is no engine to hear.

Procurement
A board member often watches the film on a phone between two meetings. So we cut six short versions, and the brochure photos come from the same morning.
